Week beginning 18th September

The children have been busy this week. We have been learning the Paddington Bear story and have been busy completing maths activities. We had a special treat on Friday where David came in to teach us how to skip. 

Week Beginning 25th September 

This week the children have been busy writing their Paddington Bear stories. We have been looking at greater than and less than in Maths and comparing materials in Science. We have explored the Gunpowder plot in History and looked at the countries in the United Kingdom in Geography. We have been practising our harvest song for Church and have loved doing some warm up dancing to get our bodies moving! 

Week beginning 16th October 

This week has been our art week. We have been creating our own masterpieces based on Kandinsky, Bridget Riley and Molly Haslund. 

We have been carrying out number sentences learning to add in maths too! 

Week beginning 6th November 2023

We have been acting out our story of the Plague this week. We enjoyed taking on the role of the different groups in society during this time. We have begun learning our new story ‘Winnie the Pooh meets the King’. 
 

Week beginning 13th November

This week we celebrated Diwali week. We looked at why people celebrated Diwali and how they celebrate it. We dressed in bright or traditional wear. We learnt some new dance moves and completed some crafts. 

Week beginning 27th November 

This week we received a letter from Santa to tell us one of his naughty elf’s had scribbled on his nice list. We were set a job to convince Santa that we should be on the good list. We looked at the structure of a letter and some persuasive writing we could use.

In Rhe we also looked at different occupations and enjoyed acting out different roles.

Christmas in Year 1- card and calendar making, Christmas crafts, meeting Santa and some Christmas games!
