Governors

Meet the Governors

The governing board, with the headteacher, has overall responsibility for the running of the school. Governing boards have three core strategic functions:

•         Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;

•         Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils; and

•         Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

Father David Jarratt   Chair of Governors   Ex-officio Foundation governor

Sam Fagan  Local Authority Governor

I am a Local Authority Governor at St Mary Magdalene Church of England School. I have experience of working alongside Sandwell schools during my time as a Trade Union Convenor and I currently work for the Local Authority. I have a daughter at St Mary Magdalene and a son who will hopefully be joining the school family when he is old enough. My interests include football (especially Celtic), running, cooking and spending time with family.

Brenda Hill  Foundation Governor

I wish to introduce myself to everyone. My name is Brenda Hill and I am a Governor at St Mary Magdalene Church of England School.

I am also a Church Warden at All Saints’ Church, which means Church and School are involved with each other.

My other interests are that I am a Bell Ringer at All Saints.

Reece Forrester       Parent governor

Neil Kingston           Co-opted governor

I moved to West Bromwich 10 years ago and have 3 children. My eldest 2 are currently at St Mary Magdalene and I am hoping that my youngest will also join the school in a few years. I am very committed to contributing to the continued success of the school and having worked in finance for over 20 years, including a period supporting schools' finances in a local authority, I have a wealth of experience that I will be able to use in my role as parent governor. I am a keen runner and triathlete, so you may see me dropping off the children in my shorts.

Rachael Foster    Staff governor

It's a pleasure to introduce myself to you all. I am Rachael Foster, staff governor who had the priviledge of joining the St Mary Magdalene team in 2021. This came after working over twenty one years as a Nursery Nurse within another Sandwell school.

I was born in West Bromwich and attended local schools. I am always so proud to say that the staff helped me get to where I am today.

My passion is in supporting children, parents and all members of our Mary Magdalene family.

In my spare time I enjoy being outdoors amongst nature with my husband and dog Honey. I'm also a mad crafter making many different things by sewing, knitting or crocheting.

Diana Wills           Foundation governor

Andrew Farley   Parent governor

I am a parent governor at St Mary Magdalene and I have a daughter who already attends the school with my other daughter hopefully joining once she’s old enough. I work for Sandwell Council as an IT Programme Manager and I hope to be able to use my knowledge and expertise in this area to support the school, its staff and its pupils in any way I can.

Danni Dhillon     Parent governor

I moved to West Bromwich 8 years ago and have 2 children. My eldest is currently at St Mary Magdalene and I’m hoping the my youngest will be joining the school in a few years. I currently work for the NHS as a HR professional and have been working in HR for approx 15 years.
