Governors

Meet the Governors

The governing board, with the headteacher, has overall responsibility for the running of the school. Governing boards have three core strategic functions:

•         Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;

•         Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils; and

•         Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

I moved to West Bromwich 10 years ago and have 3 children. My eldest 2 are currently at St Mary Magdalene and I am hoping that my youngest will also join the school in a few years. I am very committed to contributing to the continued success of the school and having worked in finance for over 20 years, including a period supporting schools' finances in a local authority, I have a wealth of experience that I will be able to use in my role as parent governor. I am a keen runner and triathlete, so you may see me dropping off the children in my shorts.

Andrew Farley   Parent governor

I am a parent governor at St Mary Magdalene and I have a daughter who already attends the school with my other daughter hopefully joining once she’s old enough. I work for Sandwell Council as an IT Programme Manager and I hope to be able to use my knowledge and expertise in this area to support the school, its staff and its pupils in any way I can.
