Music
Music at St Mary Magdalene
We ensure that all pupils receive enriched music lessons at Mary Magdalene whereby all children have the opportunity to express themselves musically; use a variety of instruments; learn to listen, perform and appraise their own performances and that of others.
At St Mary Magdalene we want to foster a love of Music that our children can carry with them through life. We provide all children with opportunities to further their own musical talents through brass lessons and whole class teaching.
Our Music schedule is as follows:
- Year 1 and 2 will learn to play the Glockenspeil.
- Year 3 and 4 will learn to play the Recorder.
- Year 5 and 6 will learn to play the Ukulele.
Through the year, all children will be given the opportunity to perform to other children and their families.
Additional Music opportunities
All children are welcome to attend a weekly singing assembly where we come together to celebrate and worship through song. Each term children from Reception to Year 6 will attend Church to celebrate and will share the different songs we have learned.
We like to bring Music to our community and we have loved taking a group of children to sing to residents in the local care home at Christmas.
Exciting news!
We are really excited to be taking part in the Young Voices in February 2025! Children are excited to learn the new songs and we are all practicing our dance moves! Watch this space for more updates.
