Learning in Reception

Week beginning 11.09.23

This week we have been settling in to Reception, making new friends, learning new routines and having fun. Take a look at some of the different things we have been doing. 

Skip to be fit! Friday 22nd September

Today we have been learning all about how to stay fit and healthy through skipping! 

Harvest festival Tuesday 3rd October

we have been practicing our harvest song dingle dangle scarecrow. We sung so well in church!

Hello yellow - Monday 9th October

Today we have been learning all about why it is important to take care of our bodies and minds. We wore yellow to celebrate this day! 

Outside learning in October

We love to play in our Early Years Garden. Have a look at some of the things we have been getting up to.

Week beginning 16th October

We have been very busy in reception this week. In our topic we have been learning all about Autumn. We explored different autumn objects and vegetables. We really liked drawing, washing and cutting open all of the autumn vegetables. We got to see what was inside and we made lots of mess. 

In our Maths this week we have been looking at patterns and numbers to 10. We used the cubes to make different patterns and see how we can show all of the numbers we know. 

Outside we got to build tall towers and see if we could make a tower taller than ourselves. We also loved building our own obstacle course to see how we can travel across the apparatus. 

Tuesday 7th November - Visit from the Nurse

Today we had a visit from the School Nurses. They told us all about hand washing and why it is really important to keep the germs away. Then we got to practice brushing some teeth to make sure they were all clean. 

Tuesday 14th November - Pudsey Visit! 

Today we had a very special visitor telling us all about the special events that will be taking place on Friday. Can you tell who he is? 

 

Diwali Celebrations - Week beginning 13.11.23

This week we have been learning all about Diwali. We made Rangoli patterns, explored Bollywood Dancing, created our own Divas and celebrated with a Diwali afternoon. Have a look at some of the wonderful learning we have done! 

Winter festival Wednesday 22nd November

Today we got to complete lots of great Christmas crafts with our families. Look at some of the things we have been able to make. 

Friday 24th November - Letter to Santa!

This week we have been writing our own letters to Santa. We trusted Mrs Vale to put our special letters in the postbox. Hopefully we will get a reply! 

Wednesday 6th December

Over the last few weeks, we have been practicing our songs and learning our lines for our Christmas Nativity. Today we got to perform it for our families and we were amazing! Don't we all look amazing in our costumes! 

Spring term

We have been very busy this spring term! Have a look at some of the wonderful things we have been doing. 

Planting and growing

We have been exploring plants. We planted our cress seeds, watered them and watched them grow. 

Chinese New Year

Today we celebrated Chinese New Year and we made our own paper lanterns. 

Role play

We have enjoyed pretending we were Police Officers this term, investigating crime and arresting our friends! 

Red Nose Day

Today we talked all about charity and why it is important to help and support others. 

World Book Day

We have loved coming to school dressed as our favourite characters for World Book Day. We even got to spend some time with our families this morning reading our favourite books. 

Easter Bonnets

We have been able to work with our families to make our Easter Bonnets and then we took part in a parade around the playground. 

Summer term 

The Animal People - Thursday 11th April

Today we had a visit from the Animal Lady. She came in and shared lots of lovely animals with us. We got to touch them, hold them and ask lots of questions.
